While the most of our commission projects consist of sci-fi and fantasy models, occasionally we receive painting requests from historical wargaming enthusiasts as well. We were recently approached by a certain Bolt Action beginner with their need for an assembled and painted 'Band of Brothers' starter set, featuring American Airborne and German Grenadiers. Eric had produced the same box from start to finish a couple of years back, so we had an instant grip on the colour palette and atmosphere of the Second World War minis.
Bolt Actionin täysin muovifiguista koostuva aloituslaatikko on varsin oivallinen lähtökohta historialliselle miniatyyripeliharrastukselle - hurjan osavalikoiman sisältävä boksi antaa mahdollisuuden varustaa jenkkien laskuvarjojoukot ja saksalaiset krenatöörit jos jonkinlaisilla ajankuvan mukaisilla aseilla ja varusteilla. Itse figut ovat juuri sopivan yksityiskohtaisia, mutta kuitenkin varsin vikkeliä maalata - värialueet ovat selkeitä ja myös varsin johdonmukaisia kunkin osapuolen sisällä. Maalasimme sakemanneihin tummien vaatteiden rinnalle myös korrekteja maastokuoseja päällystakkeihin, liiveihin ja kypäränpäällisiin. Molemmat osapuolet sitoo yhteen tietysti yhdenmukainen beissaus, jota piristettiin pienillä tufteilla ja Woodland Scenicsin kukkasilla.
Muutaman kymmenen jalkaväkifigun lisäksi kokonaisuus käsitti myös saksalaisen puolitelavaunun ja kaksiosaisen raunioituneen rakennuksen, jotka valmistuivat aikataulussa nurmiporien ohessa. Nyt aloitussetti on valmis ensimmäisiin treenipeleihin - toivottavasti taisteluosastot saavat pian vahvistuksia isompia rähinöitä varten!
